Community Kitchen

Community Kitchen

Elkton Presbyterian Church is the site for the weekly Community Kitchen Luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday in Elkton. A board of representatives from various churches and social welfare organizations in the community have run the kitchen since 2000. One of EPC’s long-time members was one of the founding board members. EPC has a member on the board who is the liaison to the church. The luncheon serves from 50-150 people each week, depending on the week of the month, weather, and other factors that may increase the need for a free meal.

The board contacts and fills a calendar with volunteers from various churches and businesses in the community who provide meals and service of those meals on Friday. The EPC members also provide lunches about four times a year. A member of our congregation takes the lead in organizing the luncheon, asking for food to fulfill a menu and for volunteers to make, serve, and clean up after the lunch.
